There are a great many internal combustion engines used for recreational use such as outboard motors, ATV's, snowmobiles, personal watercraft, and even motorized skateboards. There is a recent drive by all the manufacturers of this type of equipment to make ever larger engies and make theses devices go faster and faster. For example snowmobiles that can reach more than 100 km per hour. Why? ATv's that now approach or exceed 2000cc in engine size. Why? We should start to bring pressure on manufacturers to manufacture responsibly.
