As a grocery store worker....?

cdngrl3019
I work at for one of the largest grocery store chains in the country (won't name any names), and I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do during a shift to cut down on consumption. I'm just a cashier supervisor/customer service worker, and I can't do anything like turn off all the lights in the store, but surely there is something I can do. Any ideas?

Just a thought
Hey cdngrl3019, does the grocery chain you work at sell fabric grocery bags by the cash? If so, you could tell your customers about them when they reach for those terrible plastic bags instead. Not only are fabric bags way stronger than plastic - they eliminate the need to double bag - but they're more comfortable to carry and they can be reused time and time again and not just for groceries. If the chain you work at doesn't sell fabric bags, talk to management about brining some in. They're affordable, and they're also great for business because they can be customized to serve as an advertising medium for the store. I hope this is helpful!
