Forget about the polar bears for a minute.
It's time to connect the dots and think about people.

There are millions of communities around the world. You live in one of them. Global warming will hit communities on every continent. That’s a guarantee. It will destroy many of them. Imagine it becoming so inhospitable that you have to abandon your community. The flooding becomes too frequent. The forest fires nearby choke the air. The water supply is contaminated by storm surges. Droughts destroy farmland and food is scarce. Sound far-fetched? It's already happened in Bangladesh, Indonesia, China,  Africa and Australia.  Still think global warming is no big whoop? Read on and get scared. Get mad. Get overwhelmed. Just don't ignore it.

......But you can bet your boots, North American media will not cover this story. In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children. And what are those inaccuracies? The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct. The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

at our school were making these things called symopsiums and there about the environment and were also working with a stream near our school. the stream is almost like EMPTY and thats insane sooo i guess thats an effect.....

Just a quick note about critical thinking here. Guitarman, you should be careful in attributing things you see in nature to Global Warming. If you had really studied the subject, you would find that the Theory of Global Warming predicts that precipitation will actually INCREASE. Thus, the stream drying up (if by empty, you mean dried up) is not consistent with the theory. Of course, the stream probably dried up for reasons unrelated to climate in the first place, but this is a good example of how the Global Warming Alarmists are trying to instill a sense that everything we see can be attributed to Global Warming and thus try to pressure us to reduce CO2 levels (and consequently lower everyone's standard of living). Keep a level head on your shoulders and look critically at the world around you and you'll do fine.

everyone needs to take the time to learn about global warming, what it is doing to our world and what can happen. but learning about global warming doesnt mean that you have to put all your energy into panicing about it. we need to feel confident when we choose to be more energy efficient..whether it be your entire community, work community..even your home. every little bit counts. when you are confident that the contributions you are making will help in the future others will believe that the little contributions they put forward will also make a difference. think about your lives and your children's lives..wouldnt we want them to have a carefree childhood like we did..it doesnt have to be hard..."just flick off"

Many of these 'predictions' are based on climate models from the IPCC report. As has been shown, these models and studies are NOT reliable as the IPCC will go to any lengths to ignore or falsify data that does not meet with their global warming agenda.

The facts are that deserts are receding, new studies have shown that the Greenland ice sheet has survived temperatures much higher than what we have now, and the people of Tuvalo are just fine.

man you educate yourself.. it is a big threat.

Hey, Sketchy, I'm showing you real scientific evidence that indicates cutting CO2 emissions isn't going to change the climate. Even the most ardent Kyoto backers agree that following the treaty to the letter would potentially lower the temperature by less than one half of one degree Celsius. What have you got? Why is it a big threat? Why do you believe all of this hysteria? Where is the _science_?

What will happen? I've heard SO much what could happen. I've heard that the Ozone Layer will get very weak and will not protect us from the radiation from space. Will a EMP (Electric Magnetic Pulse) happen all over the earth? OMG why won't some people GET A LIFE AND DO SOMTHING!!

CO2 emissions have nothing to do with the ozone layer. Reducing them won't help. You have inadvertently stumbled on an important point -- maybe we should be worrying about the ozone layer instead of global warming. At least there is some scientific evidence that reducing CFC's will help with ozone depletion.

everybody complains about the 2010 olympics and about how we should be using the money for homeless people and other stuff like that. personally i think we should be using the money to put towards other things like solar energy and wind energy, and stuff like that. cause if we want us, and other generations of us to live-including the homeless, we need to do whatever we can to help save our planet.
